With the cold weather approaching it’s the perfect time to start investing in those extra layers, in particular knitwear. Our knitwear collection covers all aspects of your wardrobe from jumpers to delightful gloves and hats.
This week is ‘Wool Week’, a campaign that has now been running for five years. The campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, in order to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool.
Here at Cotswold Collections our design team ensure that all our knitwear products are made to the highest standard with quality yarn. Please ensure that before washing your woollens that you check our care label for washing instructions. The majority of our garments made from wool are either dry clean or hand wash. Listed below are some top tips on caring for you wool garments taken from a guide given to us by the ‘Woolmark Company®’:
- Empty those pockets! Before storing or washing, empty pockets, remove all belts or brooches that may be attached, this helps to avoid sagging, snagging and bulging.
- Brush your wool This tip is intended for our woven pieces only, using a soft garment brush, brush the cloth lengthwise after use, this will help to keep your garments free from dust and dirt which can cause the fabric to look dull.
- Airing To remove cigarette or food odours, lay wool garments flat on a bed or towel for an hour. Alternatively you could hang your garment on the washing line using a hanger.
- Hangers or folded? Woven wool garments should be hung on shaped/ padded hangers. Knitted garments should be folded and stored in draws.
- Dry away from direct sunlight and heat If your wool gets wet, dry the garments at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Refreshing Wool garments can be refreshed after unpacking or wearing by hanging them in a steamy bathroom. Moisture from the steam will help to remove creases and wrinkles.
